I’ve heard a lot about social media influences in my initial week at Kingpin, on my first day I heard how out of all the social media platforms, Instagram, is the highest for connecting with B2B audience. This isn't surprising when they have over 400 Million active users per month.
I personally thought this would be Twitter or Facebook as the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Instagram is pictures of cute puppies, funny memes and make up tutorials!. About 90% of information gained by the brain is visual, your brain can register 36,000 images per hour. This makes it clear why it is now the leading hub for personalised, visually based, social content.
Instagram has given companies the unique platform to showcase their core values, vision and culture. You’re able to post 15 second videos which could be a little insight into a company event, a behind the scenes look into day to day activities, shine the light on upcoming events... The possibilities are endless.
There are also many analytic platforms available for Instagram that you can track and make sure your content is being viewed by the correct audience such as Keyhole, Brandwatch and Instagram Insights.
There are many different ways you can use Instagram to promote your business such as:
- Employee engagement posts
- Sharing your company’s history
- Thought leadership – quotes, short interviews etc.
- Product demonstration
- Promoting events
- Sharing company news
- Showing off creativity
Check out Adobe (@adobe), Intel (@intel) and Citrix (@citrix) for great examples of B2B accounts.
How will you be using Instagram?
Many B2B brands are hesitant to dive into the world of Instagram as it seems less professional than Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn. But remember, people do business with people, not with other businesses. Through Instagram, you can advocate your company’s core values, and establish a long term connection with your consumer base.
